Invited Speakers

We are pleased to announce that the following physicists have accepted invitations to speak in April at ICWIP2011:

• Archana Bhattacharyya (Director, Indian Institute of Geomagnetism, India);
• Jocelyn Bell-Burnell (Past-President, Institute of Physics, United Kingdom);
• Rachel Ivie (IUPAP Global Survey of Physicists, APS, USA);
• Cecilia Jarlskog (IUPAP President-elect, Sweden);
• Tebello Nyokong (UNESCO-L’Oreal Prize Winner, South Africa); and
• YanLai Yan (Jiao Tong University, China).

This completes the complement of six plenary speakers for the conference.

Workshops

Workshops will be held on the following topics:
1. Personal Professional Development (Beverly Hartline, Jin Hee Yoon)
2a. Improving the workplace environment for women (Gillian Butcher, Corinna Kausch)
2b. Leaving and entering a career in physics (Shobhana Narasimhan, Setsuko Tajima, Beverley Hartline)
3. Gender studies and the role of women in physics (Barbara Sandow, Renee Horton)
4. Attracting girls to physics (Anne Borg, Manling Sui, Ndeye Arame Boye Faye)
5. Scientific networking in disciplines (Silvina Ponce Dawson, Barbara Sandow)

Poster Sessions

The participants will be able to participate in two different sessions:
• Country Posters on the Status of Women in Physics & Working Group Activity
• Scientific Posters
